ALERT-Murder-Coin Collection Stolen-Indianapolis, IN

Murder/Residence 

Detectives with the Indianapolis,IN police department are investigating a homicide discovered earlier today (1/26/18). A male victim 75 years old was found dead of  possible blunt trauma inside his residence. Detectives believe that coins/ collection in excess of $100,000 are missing from the residence along with other items such as guns and jewelry.

The suspect or suspects left in the victims Hummer but that vehicle has been recovered.

The investigation is on-going and there is no inventory list available at this time. However, dealers should be alert to any suspicious persons attempting to sell a large amount of coins in the Indianapolis or surrounding areas.

An update and list of stolen coins will be sent out as soon as possible.

Theft Gold Fifty Pesos - North Texas Area

Detectives with the Pantego, Texas Police Department are investigating the theft of 24 Gold Fifty Peso coins from the residence of an elderly couple. The suspect/suspects may attempt to sell the coins in the North Texas area and possibly the Shreveport/Bossier City area.

Counterfeit 1oz Gold Perth Bars

The Numismatic Crime Information Center has been advised that an individual is in the Wichita, KS area attempting to sell counterfeit 1oz gold Perth bars. The individual is described as a w/m 6'1" 180 pounds average looking and accompanied by a white female. (No Photos available)

The individual displayed a Florida drivers license in the name of Will Nagel and driving a 4dr black vehicle with Kansas plates. However the driver's license is not valid.

The individual has visited several pawn shops and coin shops in the area. Based upon the information the individual may be traveling from state to state. The bars appear too thick and analyzer shows bars to be bad.

Stolen 19th Century Political/Campaign Collection-Partial Recovery

The Numismatic Crime Information Center is working closely with Detectives from the Louisville,KY police department and the victim regarding the recent theft of the finest 19th Century Political/Campaign medal and badges collection valued at over $500,000. The on-going investigation has resulted in the recovery of 18 pieces from the stolen collection. The recovered items were sold to a Bethlehem,PA coin shop and were in the possession of an individual identified as a Jack Goldberg. There is reason to believe that Jack Goldberg has in his possession or has immediate access to a substantial number of items from the stolen collection.

Jack Goldberg is 70 years old and a resident of Allentown, PA. Goldberg may also have a South Florida residence possibly in Boca Raton, FL or vicinity.

Montgomery County, MD authorities are investigating the theft of what is reported by the victim as the finest known 1871 $5 gold half eagle PCGS PR65+ Cam CAC 88466.65/25649343. The coin was stolen sometime between December 3,2015 and January 14,2016.

Forged key date I937 and 1943 Half Crowns have been reported by the Numismatic Society of Ireland as being for sale on Ebay and in Dublin.
